Accelerate Your Confidence
FOOTBALL CONFIDENCE LAB offers a broad range of tailored programs, which meet your young athlete where they are, with a focus on how to move with balance, control, and confidence on a football field. Whether playing tackle or flag football, FOOTBALL CONFIDENCE LAB provides a proven framework and targeted development plan for each youth athlete to increase their strength and awareness, as well as to improve their movement skills.

The result is a more prepared athlete who understands where to be, how to move, and how to compete confidently on the field.

FOOTBALL CONFIDENCE LAB teaches foundational skills that are necessary for youth athletes to play flag and tackle football with confidence and control, including:
-
Movement fundamentals (e.g., balance, acceleration, deceleration, and change of direction);
-
Body positioning relative to the ball, field, and other players;
-
Spatial awareness and reaction development; and
-
Football-specific skills such as route running, coverage positioning, flag pulling, and positioning for a tackle.
The FOOTBALL CONFIDENCE LAB team draws on decades of experience playing and coaching both tackle and flag football, from the youth through collegiate levels. Through that experience, the below key observations consistently stand out:
-
Youth flag and tackle football leagues accept players with varying experience and fitness levels. Even when youth football leagues and coaching staffs place a strong emphasis on fundamentals and safety, there is often not enough time during the football season for youth athletes to truly master football-specific movement, since limited practice time must be split between skill development and playbook installation.

-
Injury risk increases when athletes do not use proper technique, form, or lack proper conditioning. This risk is elevated when confidence declines and hesitation increases, especially in contact sports.
-
High school and college football players benefit from structured off-season training designed specifically for football. Youth athletes typically do not. Instead, they transition from one sport season to the next. While multi-sport participation builds overall athleticism, not all movement patterns transfer directly to football. Dedicated time before the season to develop football-specific body positioning and movement awareness helps young athletes maintain strong, athletic, and safe positions on the field.
-
Most importantly, development should never peak early. If athletes reach their ceiling between third and eighth grade, something is missing. Each season should be an opportunity to build skills, confidence, and enjoy the game.
FOOTBALL CONFIDENCE LAB exists to give youth athletes the opportunity to level up before their flag or tackle football season starts. Using a tailored set of progressive drills that meet your child where they are, Football Confidence Lab will help players build linear speed and lateral agility, while maintaining correct body position. This is done in a non-contact environment in preparation for the tackle or flag football season.
Program Methodology
Our Training Methodology
FOOTBALL CONFIDENCE LAB uses a progressive, confidence-first training methodology designed to meet young athletes where they are and prepare them for the season ahead.
Movement Before Competition
We begin by teaching proper body mechanics before introducing football scenarios. Balance, posture, acceleration, deceleration, and change of direction form the foundation for everything that follows. When athletes move well, skills come more naturally.

Awareness Before Speed
Football is played in space and around others. We emphasize body positioning, spatial awareness, and anticipation so athletes learn where to be and how to respond calmly, rather than relying solely on their speed.
Repetition Builds Confidence
Skills are introduced gradually and reinforced through repetition in a structured, non-contact environment. Repetition creates motor memory, helping movements become familiar, reducing hesitation and increasing confidence during play.
Progression, Not Pressure
Athletes progress from simple movement patterns to football-specific applications such as route running, pass coverage, and body positioning as a player prepares to make a tackle or pull a flag. Instruction is paced intentionally so players are learning, not rushing to keep up.

Non-Contact by Design
All instruction is non-contact. This allows athletes to focus on technique, positioning, and awareness without fear or intimidation. Confidence is built before contact becomes part of the game.
Individual Growth Within Small Groups
Small group sizes allow coaches to provide guidance and adjustments while still keeping sessions engaging. Athletes with different experience levels can develop at an appropriate pace without comparison.

Our Programs
Each non-contact clinic is intentionally designed to prepare youth athletes for their upcoming football season. Six one-hour sessions over two weeks help players build foundational skills and strength needed to maintain proper body position in space, reducing hesitation and supporting more confident, safer play.

Each clinic will be held at Spring Rock Park in Western Springs, IL.
Meet the Founder
Bill Kushner is a former college football player and coach with coaching experience at the Division II and Division III levels. After spending several years in corporate America, Bill returned to the field when his son asked him to coach his first flag football team.
Since then, Bill has become HEADS UP certified and has coached both boys and girls in flag and tackle football. Through that experience, one truth became clear: young athletes need more time, repetition, and confidence-building than a typical season allows.
FOOTBALL CONFIDENCE LAB as created to give kids a safe, structured environment where they can build movement skills, body awareness, and confidence before the season begins so they step onto the field prepared and ready to play.
